The Teacup Tree by Gordon Kubanek
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a beautifully written and illustrated book! Katerina Mertikas uses her fine arts skills to produce illustrations that are whimsical. The front cover shows the Teacup tree with an upside-down teacup, two little children throwing snowballs at each other in a winter scene. It is timeless. The back cover of the book gives a synopsis of the story, quick bios of the writer and illustrator and photos of both in nature. This gives the reader an indication of the focus of the book: a story set in nature and illustrated by an artist who embraces the natural world! The book was a treat to read. The author states that the story is based on a true story of how he and his wife embrace the nature in their surroundings. It speaks of the promise of the author’s skills at telling a story and finding the best illustrator his children’s books!
A great start to a third or fourth career for this writer!
